He read about half the article
A guy sat down beside me on the subway last night and pulled out an automotive magazine. As he flipped through it, I noticed he was missing the index and middle fingers of each hand. The fingers he did have were kind of badly formed, and his thumbs were long and thin and seemed to have an extra joint, like a finger. His hands looked like an eagle’s talons. I wondered for quite a while if it was a birth defect, or if he’d lost some digits to a fireworks or power tools accident and had fingers grafted onto where his thumbs used to be.
Eventually I noticed the article he was reading was about a driverless automatic vehicle guidance system. It was called “Look Ma, No Hands.”
