X-mas V

What a liar I am. Having had to replace my hard drive this summer and losing most of my collected MP3s, I swore up and down that I wasn’t going to make another Christmas music compilation. Then Candace forwarded me a track that I thought was perfect. And then I ran across a couple of interesting tunes at Little Hits. And then suddenly I found myself up late at night finishing up my fifth annual Christmas mix. In fact, I actually have a jump on next year’s, which I’ll insist I’m not doing, but is in fact likely to include a few things I’ve been meaning to use for a while but keep putting off as rocking too hard. But before I get ahead of myself, here’s this year’s. Thanks to those who’ve made suggestions previously.

X-mas V (2007)
1. Go Home Productions – Christmas in Boston
2. Nixon – Anorak Christmas
3. Jonathan Coulton – Chiron Beta Prime
4. The Firebird Band – Gift
5. The Flaming Lips – White Christmas
6. Giant Sand – Christmas Everyday (Maybe It’ll Help)
7. Rilo Kiley – X-mas Cake
8. Rufus Wainwright – Spotlight on Christmas
9. Throwing Muses – Santa Claus
10. Wes Lachot & Chris Stamey – Christmas Is the Only Time (I Think of You)
11. Minus 5 – Your Christmas Whiskey
12. The New Pornographers – The Spirit of Giving
13. Three Hour Tour – Peace On You
14. The Uniques – Please Come Home for Christmas
15. Nick Lowe – Freezing
16. Kate Bush – December Will Be Magic Again
17. Wilco – Venus Stop the Train
18. Sufjan Stevens – That Was the Worst Christmas Ever!
19. Dan Wilson – What a Year for a New Year
20. Bill Nighy – Christmas Is All Around

Also, I figured out how to use MegaUpload, which turns out to be insanely easy, so now instead of just being a tease and telling you about the various mixes as I have previously, I’m putting all five up for download. I felt guilty about not sharing properly in the past. Here they are. Enjoy. Merry Christmas to some of you, season’s greetings to others, and happy birthday to Jesus, if you’re reading, although I hope for your sake that you’re not.

X-mas I (2003)
X-mas II (2004)
X-mas III (2005)
X-mas IV (2006)
X-mas V (2007)

call me crazy for wanting to get my christmas song lists in order in July . . . haha but I never have time to do it properly in Decmber and always end up with a crap play list . . . . so I wanted to sort this out now. Thanks for the active links and advice in this thread, it pointed me in the right directions . . . also I wanted to say I found this site with 58 songs that have been sorted into an excellent album album to download, which might be useful for others wanting to get a head start on it this year . . .

Cheers, now i need to make a new playlist for my summer holiday starting in two weeks!
