Overtime and 10 things you didn’t know about Sid the Kid

Maxime “Superstars, like me!” Talbot just scored with 34 seconds left to save the Pens from elimination and send this game to overtime. Chicka chee chee!

Just in case they don’t pull out a win to extend the series, I want to pass on this link before it’s too late to a James Duthie article detailing 10 things you didn’t know about Sidney Crosby. There are actually a few funny bits in there, including a bit from the always quotable Talbot.

Update: Pens win in the third overtime, and in mythic style. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury put on the performance of his career to keep them in the game. Then, the injured Sergei Gonchar finally returned to the ice after sitting out the first two overtime periods and blasted a shot past the net. The snakebitten Evgeni Malkin, pointless during this series, picked up the puck and passed it back to Petr Sykora who, after vowing to commentator Pierre McGuire from the bench that he’d score the game-winning goal, made good on his boast. If the Pens go on to win the Cup, Sykora’s called shot will go down in history next to Mark Messier’s famous guarantee and hat trick in Game Six of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals. In the meantime, Game Six of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, coming up.
