In the sequel, the Nexus-6 replicants will be made by Acme instead of the Tyrell Corporation

Hey, I read on Slashdot that director Ridley Scott is looking for scripts for a sequel to Blade Runner, his 1982 adaptation of Philip  K. Dick’s classic science-fiction novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Well, I can’t help with that (has he tried calling up K.W. Jeter, author of the official sequel novels?), but I did take the liberty of writing a theme song for the new film when it happens.

(To be sung to “The Road Runner Theme (from the TV series)”, composed by Barbara Cameron)

If you’re a replicant and Rick Deckard hears of this
He’ll retire you like Leon, Zhora, and Pris
Blade runner, blade runner, blowing skin jobs away
Go to hell or heaven, Roy’s gonna make him pay

Blade runner! That’s Roy Batty after you!
Blade runner! If he catches you, you’re through!
Blade runner! That’s Roy Batty after you!
Blade runner! If he catches you, you’re through!

That Roy Batty’s more human than human
Too bad he won’t live, but then again who can?
Poor Roy’s seen things you people couldn’t explain
All those moments will be lost like tears in rain

Blade runner! That’s Roy Batty after you!
Blade runner! If he catches you, you’re through!
Blade runner! That’s Roy Batty after you!
Blade runner! If he catches you, you’re through!

(Wow — it only took me 27 years to write that. I need a time machine and “Weird” Al Yankovic’s phone number.)

I say forget the sequel. I now want to see Blade Runner: The Musical.

Oh, honey! I love your ridiculous brain.

  3. I think “Weird Al” Yankovic’s phone number is 867-5-Key Lime Pie.

Ha! Matt is a clever one. Also, look what I can do now. It’s because I started a new blog.
